Everywhere You Look
you see what you are looking for.
Your eyes—
are not passive—they seek
filtered windows into your soul’s longing.
They search, they hunger,
shaped by what you choose to see.
If you open them wide
in wonder, in trust,
the light rushes in—
fills your whole being
with something like life,
something like God.
But if you live squinty-eyed,
tight-fisted with suspicion,
hoarding shadows,
you'll find only the dim,
only the musty corners
where fear grows thick
and hope stumbles.
Everywhere you look,
you see what you are looking for.
If you're looking for God—
you’ll see God
in the silence before the song,
in the shimmer on the water,
in the tear that won’t fall
and the hand that reaches anyway.
Are you looking for goodness?
You will find it
in the kindness of strangers,
in the bloom pushing through concrete,
in the quiet resilience of the one who falls
gets back up and dares to try again.
Are you looking for love?
Then love will rise to meet you
in every sunrise,
in every gesture,
in every crack where light gets in.
Everywhere you look,
you see what you are looking for.
Turn my eyes from worthless things,
from scrolling shadows
and hollow noise.
Give me life—
in your ways,
in your truth,
in your beauty.
Open my eyes,
that I may see the wonder,
the holiness humming
in the heartbeat of things.
Let the scales fall.
Let the heart see.
Enlighten these inner eyes
to know the hope,
the beauty,
the calling of love.
The eyes of your heart enlightened,
you begin to know
the hope to which you are called.
Set my sights
on what is true,
what is noble,
what is right and lovely.
Not just because it is good—
but because it’s where Love is.
Everywhere you look,
you see what you are looking for.
So—
what is it you are looking for?

Hey, some don’t know I’ve been providing spiritual care for folks for over 30 years. I am passionate about helping folks connect with the God who is Love. I support folks as they sort stuff out with God and cultivate a deeper experience of the divine with a spacious, fresh approach to Christian spirituality. Likewise, I walk alongside folks as they navigate the pain of loss and as they discern and navigate big changes in their life.
Whether you just know there has to be more and want to explore, or you desire a friend along the way as you live deeper into life, or a safe and healing space amid heartbreak, my approach focuses on compassion, soulfulness, and, most especially, Love. Here’s some more info.
